We stayed at Margaret's house until Thursday. We hit stores in Washington, Bath and Greenville! She drove us everywhere! It was super, and we can't thank her enough!
We did have a boating adventure on Wednesday, our work on the boat day. On Tuesday, Barry changed the fuel filter, but something didn't seal, so we had diesel all over. Wednesday, we got everything settled, oil changed, etc, and left the slip to motor over to get diesel.
In these creeks, wind from the same direction for several day, in this case NW, blew alot of the water out. Instead of the 7 feet of water we had coming in, there was 4 to 5 feet of water. The bottom was mud, so Barry powered through it to where it should have been deeper. But it wasn't. The guys on the dock at the Washington Yacht and Country Club waved at us, but didn't answer the VHF. Barry had his wallet, so I hadn't brought my purse and cell phone. We were good and stuck, so Barry just got out his book and started to read. He said something would change eventually, and no sense working to get free, if you don't know where the deep water is. I tried to remain calm....
Eventually, the people from the YC called on the radio, and told us the deep water was just off the docks. We unrolled the jib, and went over there. We eventually did get fuel, and then they turned us around at the dock, and we got back to the slip!
But everything worked out, and we left Thursday morning, being careful of the ice on the docks, and on our foredeck! It did get somewhat warmer, and we motor sailed to Adams Creek, near Oriental, and a very night anchorage.
